Consulting Services: Taking EfS to the Next Level

CELF’s custom consulting provides tools and guidance for educators to identify access points for Education for Sustainability within their curriculum and place-based learning opportunities in school communities. CELF offers a range of consulting services based on a school or district's interests and needs, including:

  • Train-the-Trainer programs for Curriculum and Instruction Leaders
  • Blended Learning: workshops supplemented with online learning and resources
  • Mentor School Pairings 
  • Integration with existing curriculum initiatives, student programs and other community and/or professional learning partnerships

This dynamic process begins with a CELF assessment, followed by customized professional learning workshops. The collaboration continues with strategic visits, implementation support, and further professional learning workshops as requested. CELF facilitators regularly engage in co-teaching EfS lessons in the classroom, partnering in school-wide professional learning workshops, and aligning EfS standards to the school’s existing curriculum standards and priorities.

EfS Framework: Connecting Curriculum, Campus and Community

CELF provides a framework for integrating sustainability concepts into existing curricula, incorporating the use of sustainability education in helping students achieve learning goals and reviewing curriculum exemplars and other sustainable school case studies. Customized CELF workshops are tailored to specific grade level, school or district’s individual needs and interests, taking staff learning to the next level. CELF covers appropriate content knowledge and tools, including systems-thinking, wants vs. needs, green building, sustainable design, product lifecycle, energy, ecological footprint and climate change. CELF facilitates the engagement of parents and the community as stakeholders to leverage sustainable initiatives.
